Singapore’s latest MVNO service provider, eight, has announced its entry into the market offering 88 days of free mobile service.

Under this offer, the first 88,888 users to register their interest for eight can enjoy these attractive perks for free for the first 88 days including:

• 88GB of local data
• 1GB of APAC roaming in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India and Taiwan
• 88 call minutes
• 88 SMS messages

Besides the online registration, interested users can also WhatsApp their interest to +65 8880 8888. The free 88 days starts from when the user receives his SIM card.

eight said they offer 99% network coverage including within MRT tunnels and basements. They also added that this was over 4G over StarHub's network which a StarHub spokesperson confirmed.

In terms of price plans, eight said that they will be offering two plans at S$8 and S$18. Users who successfully registered as part of the 88,888 offer can choose which plan they wish to subscribe to.

Currently, the S$8 plan allows subscribers to enjoy 188GB of local data, 8GB of APAC roaming, 1GB of worldwide roaming, 88 minutes of free local talk time and SMS messages, and 288 IDD minutes for everyone.

The second plan is priced at S$18 a month and eight says it will provide even more attractive terms, including upsized local and international data, but is currently unable to share more details. We will update this article when we receive more information.

Currently, eight is only offering physical SIMs with plans to offer eSIMs soon, the company said.

eight’s entry into the Singapore market comes as we’ve seen some MVNO’s who were earlier entrants exit a rather crowded Singapore market.
