A new competitor to the popular Oura Ring.

Samsung has a new wearable in the works. Demoed at the 2024 Mobile World Conference, the Galaxy Ring is a smart ring designed to track its user’s health data.

The device technically made its debut at the company’s Unpacked event last month but virtually no details were shared. Its latest demo gives just a slightly closer look at the advanced ring.

Set to release sometime this year, the Galaxy Ring apparently utilized AI and other technologies from the Samsung Galaxy portfolio to bring the company’s “accumulated innovations to the smallest form for comfortable 24/7 wear.”

While the exact metrics that the ring will track weren’t mentioned, it’s intended to be worn day and night, so sleep cycles probably contribute to some of the data points.

“As a new addition to our wearables portfolio, Galaxy Ring will offer users an all-new way to simplify everyday wellness, empowering them with greater insights and more ways to understand themselves day and night,” Samsung said.

The data, meanwhile, will be hosted on the new digital platform, Samsung Health. The exact pricing for the Galaxy Ring isn’t out yet, but it’ll be interesting to see how the device compares to its main competitor in the space, the Oura Ring.
